Nature And Organisation's exquisite modern classical album from 1998 reissued in January via Svart Records
Nature And Organisation is the creative musical works of iconic English artist, musician and composer Michael Cashmore. The melancholic, neo-classical instrumental album Death in a Snow Leopard Winter from 1998, composed of 12 untitled tracks, has only been released once on vinyl in the past. Svart Records have previously worked with Cashmore on reissues and new material, and have now the honor to bring this beautiful piece of work back on vinyl and CD in January 2027.
"There is no coincidence that the Current 93 album Soft Black Stars and the
Nature And Organisation album Death in a Snow Leopard Winter were both released in 1998 as I wrote the music for them simultaneously. At the time I was finding the guitar a little stale as an instrument to write with so I started experimenting with piano instead. I have no musical training so the piano was a total mystery for me, I didn't know any of the names of the notes that I was playing and it was suddenly very exciting to start composing using a piano, I could just touch several keys and just see what emerged, a few notes suddenly inspired its progression into melody and chords.
Around this time David Tibet called me with the idea of creating a very stripped down Current 93 album using a piano as the only instrument and I told him that's exactly what I was creating at the time. So some of the pieces I was working on I decided should go to the Current 93 album and others to the Nature And Organisation album which I envisaged to be more ornamented than the
Current 93 album.
I consider both of these albums to be as important as the other, they were works that I composed during a difficult time in my life and both represent the struggles that I was going through. Both works are inherently connected in their creation and purpose I feel, and for those who enjoy Soft Black Stars I believe that they would also enjoy Death in a Snow Leopard Winter equally, they are both Brother and Sister."
